Happy 4th of July Week!

Vegetable Update:  What a difference a few more days have made, especially these hot ones, with bringing on the vegetables!   The zucchini and yellow summer squash are coming on so fast we can barely keep up picking or selling it.  We are now digging our red new potatoes daily!  We are also bringing in field cucumbers, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, peas, sweet banana peppers, hot hungarian peppers, red/yellow/white sweet onions, and starting to pick green beans.  Of course we know your real question is: will we have sweet corn for the 4th of July?  Sorry, we will not, it is really been hit hard by lack of rain.  We’ll give you an update in about a week.  We are as anxious for it as you are 카페 첨부 파일 다운로드.

Fresh Cut Flowers:  On weekends we have fresh cut flowers:  zinnias, snapdragons, daisies, bee balm, cosmos, and others.  Feel free to bring your own vase and make an arrangement.  Or you can buy a vase or take them home in a paper cup Download The Double Tax 2.

Baked Goods:  This Friday, our bakers are bringing a new cookie:  peanut butter and honey.  Also, now that it is zucchini season, their famous zucchini-chocolate chip cookies are back.  (This is truly my favorite cookie, not only are they delicious, but don’t we all feel better about eating a cookie with a vegetable in it??!!)   Since it is blueberry season, they will have fresh blueberry pies Samsung Smart Switch Mobile Download!

Tomato Update:   Our greenhouse has lots of green tomatoes yet, but we are weeks away on those ripening, our field tomatoes look great so far, but they are weeks away from ripening as well.    We are temporarily bringing in tomatoes from another greenhouse in Indiana.    We have done the taste test for you and yes, they taste like a true tomato 소스 세이프 다운로드.

Lodi apples are coming:  This is our first apple of the year and while we lost a good share of them due to frost damage, we will still have some.  They might be ready this weekend or certainly by next week.  They are a green, very tart apple, used primarily for pies or cooking, but also enjoyed by people who like really sour things!   We have started a list of people who would like to get some, if you want to be added to the list, please call us at 269-244-5690 flax.

Herbs:  We are experimenting with growing herbs this year.  This weekend we will have basil, parsley and dill, with other types coming later girl group music video.

What are tomatillos?  We have some for you to try.   Tomatillos look like small green tomatoes encased in a papery husk.  They’re pleasantly tart, and principally used to make salsas, particularly salsa verde.  They’re good raw, but many cooks cook them briefly in order to enhance their flavor.  Frozen tomatillos are good substitutes for fresh 간첩 리철진 다운로드.  Store fresh ones in the refrigerator for up to a month, or cook them and freeze them.

Still looking for rain……the lack of rain is truly stressing the crops and our faithful crew who are trying to keep the irrigation running 24/7.  Our thanks to Jay who gets the sleepless nights as he monitors it and for our day crew who help to move it to various fields several times a day.

Happy First Day of Summer!

And…..it really feels like summer doesn’t it?  We are doing our best to keep our crops growing, but…..the lack of rain is really taking its toll.  We are irrigating 24/7 and cannot keep up with how dry and hot it is.  Please do a rain dance 홍미노트4x 글로벌롬 다운로드!

Our market offerings are sparse right now without much produce available because we are between crops.    Strawberries, black sweet cherries and tart cherries are gone for the year.    We are still picking yellow sweet cherries for a few more days and today we started picking blueberries!    You can see from the picture below that they are just turning blue.  Our vegetables are coming in slowly, we are picking lettuce, kale, onions, peas and hope to have some summer squash by this weekend.    Green beans are about a week away and sweet corn is several more weeks away.  Our greenhouse is beginning to phase out for the year, so  we are picking fewer tomatoes and cucumbers each day.  As you know, we grow what we sell, so we’ll all have to be patient as the summer crops begin to fill in fallout 4.   Always feel free to call us in advance before you drive out to see what we have, as we tend to sell out of things early on some days.  269-244-5690 eavesdropping rights dubbed.

Strawberry season is ending but out Sweet Cherries are beautiful!!

U-Pick Strawberries:  While we had hoped to have U-Pick strawberries a while longer, after we finished with the U-Pick this morning we have decided to close the U-Pick for the rest of the season as the berries are getting small and sparse on the plants.    Sorry that it ended so early.  We are hoping for a better strawberry year next year.  We have planted an additional 2 acres so if all goes well, we will have a lot more berries next year.   Thanks to everyone who came out and picked this year 스켈레톤키 다운로드!

Picked Strawberries:  We will try to pick berries for a few more days to have for sale at $3.00 a quart on the market.  We will only be picking a few each day so they will sell out quickly.  Call first to see if we have them and we can hold them for you.  269-244-5690 소설 저작권 다운로드.

Memorial Day Weekend

For those of you who read our earlier emails, you might remember that we planted some sweet corn in March when it was unseasonably warm on the chance that if the weather held, we could have sweet corn on Memorial Day weekend.   Well, while the sweet corn made it through the April frosts, the cool temperatures slowed the growth so there will be no early sweet corn after all.  However…. kernel.dll 다운로드.this is the earliest we have ever had  strawberries ready.  We started picking the early variety this week and hope to have quarts available through the Memorial Day weekend for you to enjoy 오픈캡쳐 다운로드.

Strawberries ready on May 21st!!

We do not expect to have berries in any quantity (cases or flats) or U-Pick  until the very end of the month (check back around May 30th).  If you want to order picked berries, please call the market at 269-244-5690 and let us know how many you need.  Please check our website fore more information on pricing and how we will be handling U-Pick this year.  http://www.coreylakeorchards.com/2012/05/strawberries-and-other-updates/

Plants:  We only have a few pepper and some grape tomato plants remaining.    If you are still trying to plant your garden, we recommend trying Schram’s Greenhouse in Portage (7313 S torchlight. Westnedge.  269-327-5347.)  This is where we get all of our plants.  They have a wonderful selection of everything……and they are local logitech g402!

Fruit Outlook:

  • Most of our fruit crop was impacted by frost damage this year.  The summer-like March temperatures caused fruit to blossom early, followed by many days of frost in April.    As you may know, the state of Michigan has been severely impacted and we are luckier than most in what we have left.   All fruit will be early this year—from 2 – 4 weeks macbook sierra.
  • Sweet Cherries:  We lost about 50% of our sweet cherry crop, but we will have enough to have them already picked to sell on the market and some to U-Pick.  They will be early this year, check back with us the first week of June for an update.
  • Sour Cherries:  We lost about 80% of the sour cherry crop.  Until they get closer to ripening, we do not know if we will have them for U-Pick.  Check back around June 8th for an update.
  • Blueberries:  We expect a good crop and they will be ready probably in June this year.
  • Peaches:  We will have some peaches, but no bushels.
  • Plums and Pears:  We lost most of these and will probably not have any bushels.
  • Apples:   We have lost a lot of apples, but we will have some of certain varieties.  We will update you further as they mature.
  • Grapes:  We have a good crop of both Niagara and Concord grapes and feel very fortunate as most of the rest of Michigan does not have any.

In the fifty years of the farm, this is the most frost damage we have ever had to our fruit crops.  It is very heartbreaking to us as we must still maintain the less than fruitful orchards, but we will persevere.  While it certainly will make for a difficult year, we remain steadfast in our desire to bring fresh produce, picked daily to our customers.  This may be the year you have to learn to love your vegetables!

In a year like this, we are even more grateful to our customers for your on-going support and buying local.

So where are the peaches and U-Pick tomatoes??

So where are the peaches and U-Pick tomatoes?? We wish we knew!  Both are taking forever to get ready.    Even despite the hot/humid days of July, most of the fruit here and in the rest of the state is running about 2 weeks late.    We know it is hard to be patient when you want a taste of a fresh peach, just picked Phil Font!

Peaches:  We will start picking a few Red Haven peaches this weekend.  We will NOT have these by the bushel, but in small quantities only: 4-lb boxes for fresh eating.  Because the peaches are late, we expect to have them for about a month once they start.    We will not be bringing in very many each day until they get riper, so please call the market to make sure we have some or have us save them for you, before you drive out.  269-244-5690 맨인블랙 인터내셔널 자막 다운로드.

Tomatoes:  We are bringing in quite a few field tomatoes now and are finishing up our greenhouse tomatoes.  As we close out the greenhouse, we have lots of green tomatoes for sale at a “close out” price of $7 a half bushel.  This is the time to make fried green tomatoes or green tomato salsa!   U-Pick tomatoes:  Because we want the tomatoes to be ripe and plentiful, it is going to be at least another week or 10 days before we open the U-Pick tomatoes.  They will be the same price as last year:  $12/bushel.  So, Please check back about August 22nd.  Sorry ftp 에서 파일 다운로드!

Homemade Baked Goods:  This weekend our bakers have brought two new cookie types.  I was allowed to sample each today, Yum!  The first is a new cookie they have:  zucchini chocolate chip cookies!  They are amazing, especially with a good cup of coffee.  The other is their normal sugar cookie, but this week in apple shapes with faces lol 영화 다운로드.

Bartlett Pears:  We have a good crop of Bartlett pears coming, but not as many as last year.  They will probably be ripe the last week of August.  If you would like some, please call us and get your name on our list and we will call you when they are available.  We want to make sure all of our customers get the pears they want as it is getting more difficult to find pears in the State of Michigan, (just not many growers), so we have many other markets which would like to buy them from us if we have any left over.    Call us at 269-244-5690, let us know your name, phone number and how many bushel you would like Holyland download.

Fruit on the market now: Jersey Mac apples and melons (blueberries are gone for the year.)

Vegetables on the market now:  sweet corn, onions, red potatoes, various kinds of peppers, summer squash, zucchini,  cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, October or cranberry beans, kale, and collard greens youtube original mp3.

Brandy Tasting:  It is open every Saturday from 1 – 4.  Please come out and visit with Bruce and try some brandy or our wine 오펀 천사의 비밀 다운로드.

Sorry, no pictures of the farm this time, I have lost my camera…..I know it will turn up somewhere (maybe in the bottom of a bushel of corn?)
